Today's Manic Monday Word: Survive
Today, I would like to salute the survivors in my life.
My father.
Recently I was looking at a picture of my father's Marine Corps Regiment. I picked him out from the back row and then remarked at what a huge group of young men were in the group. He simply said, "Of that entire group, only half of us made it home alive." Daddy, thank you for serving our country in Viet Nam and coming home alive to marry Mama and have us kids. Thank you for surviving the recession in the seventies that cost you your dairy farm and then going on to get your education, inspiring us all when you finished your PH.D. in your late forties.
My Grandma Ruth
Thank you Grandma for making it through the Dust Bowl and surviving the Okie migration to California. Thank you for surviving when Grandpa Earl hit a mid-life crisis and destroyed your 35 year marriage with an affair. You pulled yourself up by your bootstraps, started a courier service and built a new life for yourself.
Mr. Jackson
Thank you, Mr. Jackson for surviving a rough childhood to become the best husband and father a woman could ever want.
Rebecca, my best friend.
Rebecca, you have endured the worst thing a parent can imagine, the murder of your daughter. But you have survived with a strength and purpose that has touched the lives of those around you more than you can ever imagine. I'm proud to call you my best friend.
These are only a few of the survivors in my life, whose survival stories have helped me to survive. For this, I am utterly grateful.
Whose survival story has helped you survive tough times in your own life? Feel free to share in the comments.

Wow, I don't think Mo anticipated this type of response from the word "survive" but this has been the best MM ever.
Excellent view of your family and friend. Thank you for sharing such a difficult and wonderful survival stories. Have a great MM ♥
Everyone is being so nice to me and I feel so loved. *smiles* And I love your daddy and Grandma Ruth.
Mz. Jackson always says if Grandma weren't alive she would think it were her soul living in my body. Not the survivor part, but the fact that she is a crazy ass like me. LOL!!!
wonderful post!
smiles, bee

My mum is definitely a survivor that inspires me, she has been in and out of hospital all my life from a Brain tumor to Comas to broken bones to paralysis, but she still keeps on going with never a moan or a groan.
Great Post :D
Wonderful take on the theme, Mz Jackson! Such a beautiful tribute... may I stay longer and have another coffee, please?
