This man is one of the most famous Cherokee (Tsa-La-Gi) who ever lived. Does anyone know why?

HMMM. not sure. But a great WW.
Is it Sequoyah? He devised the Cherokee alphabet didn't he?
Being and Okie...I should know this. But I don't. So....?
Hmmmmm....good question. And showing just how lacking I am in all matters history. :-)
No, don't know sorry! Tell us!!
Yes, Jams, you're right! Here are some more interesting facts:
Sequoyah's "white name" was George Gist.
He was originally a silversmith, and his wife threw out his first attempts to create the alphabet because she thought he was wasting his time when he should be making money.
His original pupils were Cherokee children, because the older "full bloods" were suspicious of anything resembling the white man's ways.
His creation was actually called a syllabary rather than an alphabet, because each symbol represents a syllable rather than a single sound.
Cool picture and story.
I vaguely remember studying about him in elementary history. He was able to teach a basic principle of writing to indians.
